Kendra: Private Writing Tutor

Besides being a wife and a mom, I’m a published children’s author and a reading/writing middle school teacher.

Before I made the big move to become a private writing tutor, I worked for a popular educational toy company where I wrote e-books and gaming material for Disney, Warner Bros., and Sesame Street.

Getting to know Elmo and Big Bird was fun, but I wanted to have a more direct effect on kids. I went back to graduate school and obtained two Master’s degrees in Written Communication and Curriculum and Instruction. Needless to say, I’m a sucker for all things writing and education-related.

Now I’m a private writing tutor who teaches writing and reading through fun, game-based instruction. Each lesson is customized because no two children’s needs are the same!

It’s estimated that a staggering 32 million adults in America are illiterate. My goal is to contribute to the decline of that number—a few kids at a time. Every child deserves to know how to communicate in writing and read others’ communications.
